This one-time legislatively directed spending item would modernize essential dental equipment and technology at My Community Dental Centers, helping keep clinics open, safe, and reliable across Michigan. Many centers are operating with aging equipment and unsupported systems that slow care and create long waiting times. By upgrading delivery units, sterilization equipment, and core technology, this investment supports more than 92,000 patients each year, most of whom are Medicaid-enrolled or live in rural and underserved communities. It also helps prevent avoidable emergency room visits for dental issues, saving taxpayer dollars while keeping care local and affordable. This is a practical, cost-effective use of taxpayer funds that strengthens Michigan’s dental safety net and delivers clear public health benefits.
