6. What is the purpose and how does the legislatively directed spending item provide a public benefit that is an appropriate use of taxpayer money?
The purpose is to assist GOISD with their Career and Technical Education Building and Renovation Project. The GOISD Career and Technical Education program serves the Students from Ontonagon area schools, Ewan-Trout Creek Schools and Watersmeet Township Schools. The program officers programs to meet the needs of the community and its workforce needs including Automotive Technology, Business Management, Construction, Education Academy, Food Systems and Natural Resources, Health Sciences/ Nursing, Mechanical Drafting CADD and welding. The ISD has already committed 3.3 Million to the project through their General Fund and bond proceeds.
