Face Addiction Now (FAN) has built one of the most comprehensive, community-based continuums of care for substance use disorder (SUD) in Michigan, addressing critical gaps that previously left individuals cycling through emergency rooms, jails, and crisis systems without lasting support. FAN’s programs are intentionally designed to intervene early, reduce harm, and connect individuals to treatment and recovery services before consequences escalate. Through innovative partnerships with law enforcement, public safety agencies, courts, and healthcare systems, FAN delivers proven, low-barrier solutions that meet people where they are. State funding for FAN represents a strong return on investment. On a monthly basis, FAN supports nearly 7,000 individuals, approximately 84,000 people annually, through its ongoing programs. These include deflection and diversion initiatives, Quick Response Teams, peer recovery coaching, family support services, and community-based education, all of which provide critical resources, support, and pathways to recovery. FAN’s model produces measurable public benefit by reducing avoidable inpatient hospitalizations, emergency department utilization, incarceration, and repeated system involvement. These outcomes translate directly into cost savings for taxpayers while improving public safety, community health, and long-term recovery outcomes. The requested funding will allow FAN to expand and sustain this proven infrastructure, ensuring equitable access to services regardless of insurance status, income, or geographic location. Supporting FAN represents a strategic investment in a model that is already working at scale and delivering measurable returns for Michigan communities.
